Hi! I don't think I'm much of an expert in crafts, but I love doing them! I am planning to make a set of 3 small picture frames for my niece's bedroom walls....or maybe a set of 3 decorated storage boxes. I am trying to think of ideas for a theme....(aside from typical girly things like pink-flowers-butterflies) hehehe.... I know she loves cats and has a great sense of detail, so I might do a whole bunch of tiny drawings of different cats along the edges of the frame...we'll see! I'll try posting the results here when it's done!

I love doing arts 'n crafts type activites with kids! Whenever my goddaughter or little cousins get bored with their toys and video games and become restless, I bring out crayons or construction paper. One of my favorites (because it's so simple!) is making snowflakes with just plain computer paper and scissors. All you need to do is fold the paper up into triangles, cut little snips into it, unfold, and voila! The pattern is a fun surprise to the kids because they never expect their little snips to transform into a beautiful snowflake.

I love all crafts and my house is overrun with craft projects... I like doing crafts with kids because it's a rare opportunity for them to really express themselves - and they always surprise me!

Thought a share something fun and educational. When my oldest nephew was in Kindergarten, I brought up my melt & pour soap making supplies. He and I made pretty soaps for his teachers. Melt and pour glycerin soap can be melted easily in the microwave. I use a two cup glass pyrex measuring cup. One can mix and pour easily out of this. My nephew, of course, wanted to hit the buttons on the microwave, so I told him what to hit. I carried the hot soap to the table and then let him drop in smell and color and even soap glitter. He was learning about colors at school and had great fun mixing colors to make new colors (red&blue=purple, etc.). It was fun to see him putting what he was learning in school to practical application and having fun. It is also a great memory. One can buy everything you need at any craft store like Michael's or Hobby Lobby. I will say that the soap Hobby Lobby sells is already in rectangular pieces. four or five pieces is usually sufficient for a bar of soap. You can buy dyes and scents and molds. Essential oils can also be used for scent. We get ours from a local health food store or we order from GloryBee online. They have all kinds of candle and soap making supplies. The melt and pour soap is really easy to work with a lot of fun!
